Memorializing Priceless Moments.....

In an effort to preserve some of the truly priceless statements made by our children, we have decided to begin memorializing them here.

From our 2-1/2 year old boy:
- Last night during dinner he began requesting cereal instead of his pizza. "I want cocoa cuffs, cocoa cuffs [then in Yuletide song] cocoa all the way!".
- When asked "Why aren't you eating your pizza? Do you not like the green peppers?" He replied "No, they're little bit sgusting."
- Recently we were setting up a cold air humidifier for S (at her request). Our boy's advise to his big sister: "Don't worry bout the Q-Fire S, Just BE CAREFUL."
- Some of his favorite foods are "Chicken Ladas" and "Sketti". He also really likes dill "tickles".

Our girl, now 6-1/2:
- Still occasionally puts her dirty clothes in the hampster; and always tries to do what she is asposed to do.
- (This took place almost 3 years ago, but definitely is deserving of recordation.) When A's mother was suffering in the latter stages of ALS, she was going in for surgery to have a feeding tube inserted. Because of the severity of her condition, the doctors feared that she would not survive the surgery. If she did survive, she would likely lose her ability to breathe independently and never be taken off of the ventilator. S listened intently to A's emotional and tearful telephone conversation with her sister regarding the situation. At the end of the phone conversation, S (now sobbing herself) asked: "Why won't grandma ever be able to get off the elevator?!" Immediately after the words left her mouth, she knew "elevator" was not the right word and she and A both burst into laughter.

TAGGED!...
(Usually K does the blogging, but this time it's me, A)

My friend Sally tagged me a while back in an effort to get me to post to my blog. At least she made it easy for me by providing questions for me to answer. I enjoyed reading her post, so here goes.

What are your names/nicknames? Yeah right - like I'm going to post those on the internet!

How long have you been married? Almost a DECADE!

How long did you date? This is complicated. We dated for 5 months, took a 26 month break, then dated for 2 more months & got engaged.

How old are both of you? In our early 30's.

Who said I love you first? It depends on if, "I think I'm falling in love with you," counts. If so, then it was me. This was during our first five months of dating.

Who's taller? K, by 3 inches. Thank goodness, because I love to wear heels.

Whose temper is worse? We're both guilty, but I'd have to give the edge to K.

Who does the laundry? Mostly me, but K pitches in from time to time.

Who does the dishes? That would be me.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do. I sleep mostly on my right side at night and like to be able to kick a foot or two out from under the covers if I get hot.

Who pays the bills? We both do.

Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time, but consult K on a regular basis as he is a better cook and would do it more if he wasn't working full time.

Who drives when you're together? Always me, K only drives in my dreams - litterally. Good thing too!

Who's the first to admit when they're wrong? Members of the House of P are never wrong :)

Who proposed? K, of course. The evening went nothing like K had planned but it was wonderful none the less. K received an unexpected call to give an old friend a blessing, my mom had plans for us to decorate her christmas tree before our date, and we got lost somewhere in Scottsdale trying to find the location where he planned to propose. All the while, I had no idea he was going to propose since we had planned to go ring shopping the following week, though he did seem a little stressed. We finally found the resort with the gondola rides, ponds, pools and fountains. We had a very romantic evening enjoying each others company and the beautiful outdoor scenery. Then to my surprise he pulled a ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him.
Who has more friends? I haven't counted how many friends I have since fourth grade.
Who has more siblings? It's a tie.
Who wears the pants in the family? We try to share them, but K's most definately the man.

Off to bed...I officially tag any of my cvillegals who read this entry. Tag, you're it!

BEACH VACATION

After nearly ten years of marriage, we finally took our first family vacation (excepting trips to spend the holidays with family). We thoroughly enjoyed our MUCH needed week in Rodanthe, North Carolina (Hatteras Island- Outer Banks). Hopefully these pictures will convey a little of that.

Boy At The Beach...

If we had to describe our boy with a single word...BUSY! At home we tend to rely on "menace" as the accurate descriptor. At the beach - well, lyrics from an eighties song come to mind:

"Ain't nothing gonna break my stride. Ain't nothing going to slow me down. Oh no, I've got to keep on moving."

That's our boy.

Girl At The Beach...
We would not endeavor to describe the mental and emotional complexities of our girl with a single word. However, when water is involved (be it a pool, lake, sprinkler, slip-n-slide, etc.) she is easily summed up in a single word...FISH. We expected her first trip to the ocean (excluding a couple day trips when she was very young) would give her reason to pause. Nope. Equipped only with a $2.00 swim ring, she relentlessly plunged into the waves. It was a body surfing extravaganza!

Babe At The Beach x2
One cutie, one hottie!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
The pumpkin on the right was carved almost exclusively with a drill! That was great fun...messy, but fun.

For quite a while leading up to Halloween, S wanted to be Bell (from Beauty and the Beast). But, as we got closer to Halloween she decided that Halloween was about being scary, and Bell wasn't scary. She decided she wanted to be Violate from The Incredibles. To our suggestion that Violate wasn't really scary either, she responded with a sudden demonstration of Violate's "fighting moves".

AT THE LAKE -

Yes, he's destined to be cool!
It took some convincing, but we finally got S to get out of the boat and onto the tube.

Post skiing satisfaction!

SUCH A BOY!

He has two speeds -- drive and overdrive!

The only times he is not smiling are those when we are telling him "No, NO!"... or "Get off the kitchen counter/table, or out of the sink!". He is such a little trouble maker!

These did not turn out as well as last year's, but I blame the location and aging camera.

Here We Go

While it is highly unlikely that there will be any sort of consistency to this blog, we are nonetheless starting it. We are all about bandwagoning these days!
